Position title
Microsoft Power BI Developer
Responsibilities
- Power BI Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.
- Create efficient and scalable data models that enable business users to explore data and derive actionable insights.
- Develop Power BI solutions using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create complex measures, calculations, and KPIs.
- Data Integration & Transformation:
- Connect Power BI to various data sources, such as SQL databases, Excel, Dynamics 365, Azure, and other third-party APIs./li>
- Use Power Query (M) to clean, transform, and aggregate data from multiple sources before creating data models.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency in the reports by validating and optimizing queries.
- Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:
- Work closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand reporting needs and business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for Power BI solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure proper data flows and integration with data warehouses.
- Optimization & Performance Tuning:
- Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance, including query performance, data refresh efficiency, and report load times.
- Ensure the scalability and responsiveness of reports for large datasets and complex calculations.
- Data Governance & Security:
- Implement role-based access control (RBAC) to restrict access to sensitive data within reports and dashboards.
- Apply security standards and best practices for sharing and distributing Power BI reports within and outside the organization.
- Ensure compliance with organizational data governance policies and guidelines.
- Training & Support:
- Provide training and support to business users on how to interact with and interpret Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Develop documentation, including user manuals and technical guides, to support ongoing use and maintenance of Power BI solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Power BI reports, datasets, and data refresh schedules.
- Reporting & Analytics:
- Build advanced analytics features within Power BI, such as forecasting, clustering, and predictive modeling, to deliver deeper insights.
- Develop custom visuals and embedded Power BI solutions to meet specific business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role in BI and data analytics.
- Strong expertise in Power BI, including Power Query (M), DAX, and data modeling.
- Experience with integrating Power BI with data sources like SQL, Azure, Dynamics 365, Excel, and APIs.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and relational databases.
- Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and optimization.
- Familiarity with Power BI security, sharing, and governance features.
- Experience with advanced data analytics and custom Power BI visualizations is a plus.
- Microsoft Power BI or other relevant certifications are preferred.
