Microsoft is ending support for Dynamics GP. If your finance team still runs on GP, now is the time to plan your move to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, while there is time to do it calmly instead of under deadline pressure. Akkomplish is a US-based Business Central partner headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. We plan and run the migration with your team, from the first assessment to the day you go live.

Why move to Business Central
- Microsoft’s path forward for GP customers. Microsoft recommends Business Central to GP customers and keeps investing in it.
- Cloud, with no servers to maintain. Business Central online gets regular updates from Microsoft, so there are no more upgrade projects.
- Works with the tools you already use. It connects to Outlook, Excel, Teams, Power BI and Copilot.
- Room to grow. It covers finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects and manufacturing in one system, for one company or many.
What moves from GP to Business Central
Microsoft provides a cloud migration tool for Dynamics GP 2015 and later versions. It moves:
- setup data, such as payment terms, shipping methods and sites;
- master data for accounts, customers, vendors and items;
- open transactions;
- customer, vendor and item classes, which become posting groups;
- Vendor 1099 information;
- history, as a GP historical snapshot. You choose how many years to bring over, and your team can look up old GP transactions inside Business Central.
Your GP account segments become dimensions in Business Central, so you keep reporting by department, division or location. GP stays your live system until the final cutover.
How Akkomplish runs a GP migration
- Assessment. We review your GP modules, add-ons, customizations, reports and integrations, and agree what data and history to keep.
- Plan and design. We map your chart of accounts and dimensions, choose what replaces each GP add-on, and give you a written plan with a timeline and cost.
- Test migration. We migrate into a test environment. Your finance team checks balances, open items and reports before anything goes live.
- Training. Your users learn Business Central with their own data and processes.
- Go-live and support. We run the final migration, switch over and stay with you through your first month-end close.
What drives the cost and timeline
- the number of companies in GP;
- the modules you use, and any third-party add-ons;
- customizations and integrations with other systems;
- how many years of history you want to keep;
- the reports your team relies on.
After the assessment you get a clear plan, so there are no surprises later.
Frequently asked questions
When does Dynamics GP support end?
Microsoft ends support for Dynamics GP on December 31, 2029. Security updates, if needed, continue until April 30, 2031.
Can we keep our GP history?
Yes. Microsoft’s migration tool can bring over the years of history you choose as a GP historical snapshot, which your team can view in Business Central.
Can we keep using GP during the migration?
Yes. GP stays your live system until cutover. The migration can run again to pick up changes made in GP since the last run.
