Distributors live on thin margins. The right stock has to be in the right place, orders have to ship on time, and costs have to be known before the invoice goes out. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was built with wholesale and distribution in mind. Akkomplish is a US-based Business Central partner headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, and we help distributors and import/export businesses run purchasing, warehouse, sales and finance in one system.
Common problems we solve for distributors
- Stock levels you can’t trust, and too much cash tied up in slow-moving items.
- Picking and shipping from paper lists, with mistakes found by the customer.
- Several warehouses or locations with no single view of availability.
- Freight, duty and other landed costs added by hand, so margins are a guess.
- Orders typed in again from email, EDI or the web store.
What Business Central does for distribution
- Inventory: inventory across multiple locations and bins, with transfer orders between warehouses.
- Warehouse: receipts, put-aways, picks and shipments, up to fully directed put-away and pick.
- Purchasing: planning suggests what to order, based on sales demand, safety stock and lead times.
- Sales: prices and discounts by customer, item and quantity, plus drop shipments straight from the vendor.
- Tracking: lot and serial numbers, for recalls and traceability.
- Costs and currencies: item charges add freight and duty to the item’s cost, and you can buy and sell in multiple currencies.
- Online sales: the built-in Shopify connector syncs products, inventory and orders with your online store.
- Reporting: Power BI dashboards and Excel reports straight from live data.
Built by Akkomplish for distributors
- AkkOn WMS: your warehouse in your pocket. Our mobile app runs on ordinary Android phones, with the camera as the barcode scanner. Your team receives, puts away, picks, ships, transfers and counts directly against Business Central, and prints labels from the floor. Quality checks on receipt and before shipment are available as an add-on. See AkkOn WMS.
- EDI and integrations. We have integrated Business Central with EDI and third-party services. For example, see how we moved a client from NAV 2009 to Business Central with EDI integration and Power BI reporting: read the case study.

Frequently asked questions
Do we need the Premium license for warehouse management?
No. Warehouse management, purchasing, sales and inventory are part of Business Central Essentials. Premium is needed for manufacturing and service management.
Can Business Central handle import costs?
Yes. Freight, duty and other charges can be assigned to the items they belong to, so your item costs and margins include them.
Does it work with our online store?
Business Central has a built-in Shopify connector. Other web stores and marketplaces can be connected through apps or integrations.
